Frequently Asked Questions

How many implants on average did the past candidates place as part of the program?

The number of implants placed has varied, dependent upon the skill level of the doctor and the patients presented, but we’ll ensure that you are comfortable and confident placing implants.

2

How often/much clinical hands on is this course?

Every session is hands on. Additionally, there are 3 clinical sessions and a cadaveric session scheduled that are hands on as well.

3

Will we able to place implants to some capacity, immediately after the course

Yes without question! My target goal is for each participant in my program to gain confidence in providing these procedures for patients. I take my role in preparing you seriously. I want to make it predictable, practical and profitable for you. I also want you to be able to handle any kind of case that comes your way with a degree of comfort and if not, I want you to be able to refer the case with knowledge, understanding and guidance to the referral. Philosophy: any case you address, it is my thoughts that you manage any of the complications.

4

If I provide my own patients, how many implants can I expect to place over the course?

You can place as many implants as possible over the 3 clinical days. The number of implants placed is dependent upon the skill level of the doctor and the patients presented, but we’ll ensure that you are comfortable and confident placing implants. Dr. Dunson's target goal is for each participant in his program to gain confidence in providing these procedures for patients. He takes his role in preparing you seriously and wants to make it predictable, practical and profitable for you.

5

Do you provide patients or are we expected to bring our own?

The best learning comes when the students bring their own patients with chair side supervision with our faculty. This is where the true meaningful learning happens when the student gets to experience the post operative course of healing with post op follow up and you get to restore the implant with ongoing mentoring. Patients have been provided in the past for participants unable to secure their own once the student has passed proficiency evaluations by the faculty.

6

What times do the course run on each day?

The course runs Fridays and Saturdays from 8am-5pm and on Sundays from 8am-2pm. The July, August and September sessions also have Thursday dates which run from 8am-5pm.

7

If we do not have our own patients, will we still have the opportunity for live patient work?

Yes. From Dr. Dunson's educational experience as a teacher for over 28 years, the best learning comes when the students bring their own patients with chair side supervision from our faculty. This is where the true meaningful learning happens... when the student gets to experience the post operative course of healing with post op follow up and you get to restore the implant with ongoing mentoring. During the live surgery sessions, everyone has a role as either the surgeon, assistant or photographer, so everyone gets to experience the live patient work. Additionally, we have provided patients for participants unable to secure their own, once the student has passed proficiency evaluations by the faculty.

8

What implant system is being used?

We will offer several implant systems throughout the course for you experience, but you/we are not restricted to any brand and you’re able to place whatever implant system you want to place. Our goal is to teach students how to place implants not just how to use a particular brand.

9

What happens if I have to miss a day?

We do have participants that have to miss a day or a session for a variety of reasons. Life happens! We will provide you with the handouts from that session and you are able to discuss the material with Dr. Dunson as well as the other classmates. Additionally, you can attend the missed lecture with the next course to get the learning 1st hand.

10

Do you have payment plans?

We offer interest-free payment plans. The typical payment plan is 6 monthly payments following the deposit. We can customize a plan for you should you have needs that require customization.

The Washington DC (Mid-Atlantic) MaxiCourse is not directly affiliated with a university so unfortunately we're unable to offer the GI Bill. Because you have served our country, we will grant you the discount given to recent graduates and offer you $3,000 off of your investment to honor you for your service. Additionally, we also have a monthly payment plan to assist in spreading out payments.
